The title of this article is On Suffering and Structural Violence.
The author of this work is Paul Farmer.
This work was written in 2004, and is important at the time because it brings awareness to people around the world about the problems countries are having
This work was written for the people of the world.
In this work there are two people. One that has AIDS and one that is beaten by the
government. The work takes place in Haiti where the government controls
everything. From land to money, and speech to rights. The girl spoke up about
the government not doing anything to protect her from being raped and recieving
the AIDS virus. The man that was beaten spoke up against the government and
tried to speak his mind. This led to the abuse and tourture that he then
recieved because of the things he said.(92)
This article makes the argument that how can you be free if you have no rights.
Without saftey are you really free? Like the girl in this selection is she
really free because she now has AIDS and will eventually pass away from it. Or
the man that was beaten by the government. Is he really free to do what he
wants?(62)
My opinion on this selection is that not everyone is free. There are things, like
the government, that restrict us and take away our freedom.

Reflection
This class is bringing so many skills to my life. While enrolled in this class I have learned to think critically, read and pull out information, and to ask questions. It is very entertaining and causes you to think about ideas you never would have thought about before. It makes you look at others points of view.
